Treasures

I love my family. I love my kids. Sometimes I just wonder if I am truly treasuring every moment with them. Sometimes it seems like many days are filled with correcting, teaching and discipline (and much whining & crying). Lots of times I feel these times outnumber the fun, playing, being silly times. I am proud my kids are well behaved. We have high expectations, but I want the most for my children. What can I do to show them they are treasured such that when people look at us they see God is treasured more?

PG Update: tonight's craving was a chocolate McDonalds shake which I happily went & purchased. Told my sisters the news today and they are excited! Lots of gagging and dry heaves tonight. Hopefully weeks ahead will be better.

Quote for today: The great challenge of life is to use every treasured thing in the world in a way that shows God is treasured more.

Thanks for my gift today God.

Parenting Win

Today marked a great parenting win for me. Madelyn stayed home from school today and was at her Gamma's house all day. She woke up complaining of a sore throat. Took her to PAA and thank God the culture was negative for strep. Tonight she was having trouble breathing through her nose and was whining about how she couldn't go to sleep. After about an hour of listening to her and her coming downstairs, I had the idea to make her some hot tea. I knew she liked tea and I made a big deal about how it was medicinal and would calm her down. After enjoying her tea and finishing a House Hunters with Mom and Dad, I tucked her in and she was asleep in no time. I have to remind myself that it's the little things with her.

PG update: Cara has had ZERO energy for the last three weeks. It's a lot to keep things going as we are a team and I feel like sometimes my teammate is on the bench. She had a uncomfortable night last night with the rupture of an ovarian cyst.

Quote for day: God always pays for what he orders!

Thanks for my gift today God!
Your child,
JG

Something I have wanted to do

I created this blog several months ago and have wanted a place to journal and share my thoughts. Unfortunately, lots of other activities entered into my life and took priority over this activity. Since these activities have subsided and I find myself at a place where I actually have a few minutes of time by myself, I now look forward to sharing!
